The Story of the Wood
This is not store-bought lumber. We strictly use salvaged old growth California Redwood. Our wood comes from two distinct sources: either "waste wood" (chunks left behind by loggers over a century ago) or reclaimed timbers from historic buildings that have been torn down. Because of this, every stand features the incredible "tight grain" structure that only comes from trees that stood for hundreds of years.
Old World Craftsmanship
For over 50 years, Blue Ox Millworks and Eric Hollenbeck (star of "The Craftsman") have specialized in custom architectural molding and Victorian craftsmanship. We apply that same dedication to these smaller goods. While we use modern laser precision to etch the intricate "Sequoia Sempervirens" tree design, the cutting, sanding, and finishing are done with the care you’d expect from a historic job shop, using old world tools including our our 1866 Portland Picket Pointer.

The Finish: Hand-finished with Shellac—a traditional, non-toxic, and hypoallergenic sealer that brings out the deep reds of the wood without harsh chemicals.
The Design: A clever two-piece "slip fit" design allows you to disassemble the stand flat for travel.
The Capacity: The base is weighted and wide enough to support large smartphones and small tablets without tipping.
